The journey to Mountain Hut “Deka” involves a steady ascent of 840 meters through alpine meadows and rugged trails. The shifting landscape and crisp mountain air serve as a reminder of the challenges and rewards of trekking in the Greater Caucasus. After approximately three hours, we arrive at the mountain hut, situated at 3,020 meters. Here, we take the time to rest and acclimatize, surrounded by breathtaking peaks. The hut provides a simple yet inviting atmosphere, where the shared experiences of fellow trekkers and the magnificent mountain scenery create a rewarding pause in our journey.

The steady climb tests both endurance and determination. From the plateau, the challenge intensifies as we ascend to the Kazbek Saddle at 4,900 meters, navigating steeper gradients of 30–45 degrees with the aid of ice axes and fixed ropes. Above 3,900 meters, we traverse glacial terrain, carefully roped together to navigate the crevasses safely.
