9-Day Kyrgyzstan Highlights Tour: Canyons, Eagle Hunters & Alpine Lakes, September, 2025
Our 9-day Kyrgyzstan trip was nothing short of breathtaking. Rugged canyons, soaring alpine mountains, serene turquoise lakes and the proud tradition of eagle hunting — every day offered a dramatic contrast of landscapes and culture. The route felt carefully chosen: we explored remote valleys and ancient peaks, met eagle hunters whose stories echoed centuries-old traditions, and gazed at alpine lakes under endless skies. The pace was well balanced — adventure-filled but never overwhelming — and the sense of awe remained strong until the very last day. By the end, I felt I had discovered a side of the world few get to see.

The tour managed to capture the true diversity of the Balkans: medieval fortresses, Ottoman-era towns, Adriatic coastlines, mountain passes, and vibrant city centers. I enjoyed the balance between structured sightseeing and spontaneous moments — a spontaneous café in a Bosnian old town, a sunset over Adriatic sea in Croatia, a quiet mountain village in North Macedonia. It felt like a mosaic of cultures stitched into one intense, beautiful journey.

This 9-day journey across Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan was unlike anything I expected — a powerful blend of ancient history, human warmth, and natural wonders. Walking among the ruins of Babylon and wandering the old streets of Erbil Citadel felt like stepping through millennia of human stories. Sleeping in a reed house among the waterways of the Iraqi Marshes was one of the most peaceful and authentic experiences of my travels. Every day offered a new perspective: from ancient ziggurats to lively bazaars, from whispered legends to warm tea with local families. This tour didn’t just show me a country — it gave me a glimpse into the soul of Mesopotamia and Kurdistan.

Beyond the Guidebooks – a Real Discovery! I’ve been on many so-called “bucket-list” tours, but this one delivered something rarer: genuine curiosity, unexpected detours and the feeling of discovering places that few of my friends have even heard about. Meeting copper-smiths in an Azerbaijani mountain village, tasting Georgian qvevri wine in a small tavern, watching the smoke rise from Armenian churches set beneath Mount Ararat — these are the kinds of moments that stay with you. What I loved most about this tour was the way it balanced historic cities with remote natural beauty. Traveling the Balkans with heart! I’ve been on many group tours, but this one felt truly special because of our guide. She wasn’t just leading us from place to place—she was sharing the Balkans as if they were part of her own story. In Skopje, she painted the city’s past so vividly that I could almost see history unfolding in front of me. In Kotor, she led us through quiet backstreets away from the crowds, where we discovered tiny cafés and old stone arches I’d never have found alone. She noticed when someone needed a rest, when a question deserved a deeper answer, and when a small joke could lighten the group. By the end, it felt less like a tour and more like traveling with a close friend who wanted us to fall in love with her region as much as she did. That personal connection made all the difference.
