Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad – A Gentle Welcome to the Capital

Your journey begins with a warm welcome in Islamabad, where the peaceful rhythm of the capital offers a gentle introduction to the unfolding adventure in the north.

Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. After a moment to rest, we step out to explore the quiet elegance of Islamabad and the vibrant hustle of Rawalpindi—two cities woven together, yet worlds apart.

We visit the majestic Faisal Mosque, with its white marble peaks echo the distant Himalayas. From the peaceful heights of Daman-e-Koh and Shakarparian, the capital reveals itself in sweeping views. At the Pakistan Monument and Lok Virsa Museum, stories of heritage and resilience unfold. And as the day fades, we wander through the labyrinthine bazaars of Rawalpindi, where vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and lively voices blend into a symphony of everyday life—authentic, chaotic, and full of warmth.

Islamabad may be relatively young in age, but it stands as a serene reflection of a nation’s spirit—ordered yet soulful, modern yet deeply rooted.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Visit Faisal Mosque, one of the largest and most iconic mosques in the world.
  • Explore the vibrant old bazaars of Rawalpindi and immerse yourself in the daily life of the locals.
  • Enjoy panoramic views from Shakarparian and Daman-e-Koh.

Travel Details: Expected travel distance: ~37 km /~1 hour; Overnight stay at a hotel in Islamabad (-/-/-)

Day 2: Over the Mountains – From Islamabad to Chilas via Babusar Pass

After breakfast, we leave the orderly calm of Islamabad and head north into the raw, rising beauty of the Himalayas. The road winds through the hills of Mansehra and the lush green valleys of Kaghan, gradually ascending toward one of Pakistan’s most stunning mountain corridors.

We pause in Naran for some leisure time in this charming alpine town, nestled beside the Kunhar River, before continuing our spectacular climb toward Babusar Pass. Rising to an elevation of 4,173 meters (13,691 ft), the pass crowns the Kaghan Valley, offering sweeping views of jagged peaks and cloud-kissed horizons. The road itself is a marvel—twisting and turning through hairpin bends that seem to stitch the sky to the earth.

As we descend toward Chilas, the landscape shifts dramatically—from lush green meadows to stark, arid cliffs carved by the mighty Indus River. The day ends in this frontier town, a tranquil gateway to the towering Karakoram.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Scenic drive through Mansehra and Kaghan Valley, featuring lush forests and picturesque river views.
  • Crossing Babusar Pass (4,173 m) – one of the world's most thrilling high-mountain roads

Travel Details: Expected travel distance: ~392 km/Driving time: ~9–11 hours total; Overnight stay at a hotel in Chilas (B / L/ D)

Day 3: Journey into the Realm of Fairies – Trek to Fairy Meadows

This morning, we continue our journey along the Karakoram Highway, driving for just an hour to Raikot Bridge, where the road ends and the adventure deepens. From here, we transfer to local 4x4 jeeps and embark on a thrilling off-road ascent to Tato Village—a bumpy, narrow path that clings to the mountainside and offers glimpses of what lies ahead.

At Tato, we begin our trek on foot—an invigorating 2–3 hour hike (5.5 km) through pine forests and wild alpine terrain, climbing 640 meters toward a place that feels more like a dream than reality.

At an elevation of 3,306 meters, Fairy Meadows unfurls like an emerald carpet beneath the towering face of Nanga Parbat (8,125 m), known as the "Killer Mountain" and the ninth-highest peak in the world. The stillness here is magical, the air is crisp and pure. According to local legend, this highland meadow is the domain of fairies—a gift of nature so enchanting that even spirits linger.

We settle into cozy wooden huts surrounded by pine trees and snowy peaks. As night falls, Nanga Parbat glows under the stars—silent, vast, and eternal.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Jeep adventure to Tato Village, a raw off-road experience with stunning mountain scenery
  • Trek to Fairy Meadows (5.5 km) through enchanting alpine forests, culminating in a rewarding ascent.
  • Unmatched views of Nanga Parbat, the western sentinel of the Himalayas.

Travel Details: Expected travel distance: –~58 km / ~1 hour – Jeep ride to Tato: ~1.5 hours; Trek from Tato to Fairy Meadows: 5.5 km / ~2–3 hours Elevation gain: +640 m (Fairy Meadows at 3,306 m altitude)  Overnight stay at a hut in Fairy Meadows (B/L/D)

Day 4: Nanga Parbat Viewpoint – At the Foot of a Giant

Today, we rise early to embark on an unforgettable full-day trek to one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Himalayas—the foot of Nanga Parbat, known as the “Naked Mountain.”

Our trail gently winds upward through forested slopes and wildflower-strewn pastures, gaining 467 meters in elevation as we ascend toward the viewpoint at 3,967 meters. As the trees thin and the air becomes still, a vast alpine amphitheater opens before us—staring directly into the icy wall of Nanga Parbat (8,126 m), the ninth-highest peak in the world.

Surrounding the main peak, you will also witness Raikot Peak (7,070 m), Chongra-I (6,844 m), and Ganalo Peak (6,608 m), their glaciers gleaming in the high-altitude light. The silence is profound, broken only by the wind and the distant rumble of avalanches—a place where nature commands reverence.

We take time to rest, take photos, and absorb the raw majesty of the Himalayas before descending the same path back to Fairy Meadows.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Full-day trek to Nanga Parbat Viewpoint with unforgettable mountain vistas
  • Panoramic views of towering peaks: Nanga Parbat (8,126 m), Raikot (7,070 m), Chongra-I (6,844 m) & Ganalo (6,608 m)

Day 5: Journey to Hunza – Where Mountains Meet and Legends Begin

We begin the day with a final glimpse of Fairy Meadows, its morning stillness wrapped in mountain silence. After breakfast, we trek back down to Tato Village, retracing our steps through pine forests and alpine slopes—a descent of 2 to 3 hours into the valley below. From Tato, we once again board 4x4 jeeps for the rugged ride to Raikot Bridge, where our overland journey continues.

The drive to Karimabad in Hunza is nothing short of majestic. Along the 178-km route, we pause at key scenic spots, including the renowned Junction Point of Three Mountain Ranges—where the Himalayas, Karakoram, and Hindukush converge in a geological embrace that shapes the landscape and spirit of northern Pakistan. Here, the roads to Gilgit and Skardu part ways, and the sky opens into an amphitheater of towering peaks.

We also stop at the Rakaposhi Viewpoint, where Rakaposhi (7,788 m) rises dramatically from the valley floor, its snow-covered slopes gleaming golden at sunset. As we arrive in Karimabad, the heart of Hunza, we are greeted by the warm smiles of the Hunza people and views of ancient forts nestled among jagged peaks. The air feels lighter here, and the valley is wide and open, filled with light and stories.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Photographic Opportunities at the Junction Point of the Karakoram, Himalayas, and Hindukush
  • Experience the spectacular views of Rakaposhi (7,788 m) as you arrive in the legendary Hunza Valley and enjoy the warm hospitality of the Hunza people.

Day 6: Guardians of Stone & Skies – Altit, Baltit & Duiker Valley

Today is a journey into the soul of Hunza’s heritage—where ancient stone fortresses whisper tales of kings, resilience, and centuries of mountain life.

In the morning, we explore Baltit Fort, a 700-year-old architectural gem perched above Karimabad, which once served as the royal residence of the Mirs of Hunza. With its whitewashed walls, carved wooden balconies, and Tibetan-style skylights, the fort offers a breathtaking view of glacial peaks: Rakaposhi (7,788 m), Ultar Sar (7,388 m), and Lady Finger (6,000 m). Walking through its ancient halls feels like stepping into a living chronicle of the region's strategic and cultural evolution.

Just below, we visit the even older Altit Fort, which dramatically clings to a rock cliff that plunges 300 meters straight into the Hunza River. Built over a thousand years ago, Altit is the birthplace of the Hunza Kingdom, with its tiered structure sculpted directly into the natural contours of the cliff.

In the afternoon, we ascend by road to Duiker Valley, a tranquil highland known as the "Roof of the World." This natural balcony offers one of the most majestic panoramas in Pakistan, featuring Golden Peak (7,027 m), Diran (7,266 m), Ultar, Disteghil Sar (7,885 m), and Rakaposhi all stretching across the horizon like a crown of snow. The sunset here is unforgettable, as the mountains glow with golden hues while the valley below descends into silence.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Visit to Baltit Fort, once the residence of Hunza’s royal family, offers sweeping views of the glacier.
  • Explore Altit Fort, an ancient stronghold built high above the Hunza River
  • Sunset at Duiker Valley, one of the most scenic viewpoints in all of Gilgit-Baltistan.

‍Travel Details: Driving distance: ~15–20/Time: ~30 minutes; Overnight stay at a hotel in Karimabad (B/-/-)

Day 7: Into the Heart of Hunza – From Sunrise in Duiker to the Glaciers of Passu

The day begins in stillness. As the first light brushes the snow-capped peaks, we gather at Duiker Top to witness one of the most breathtaking sunrises in the Karakoram. As golden rays illuminate Rakaposhi (7,788 m), Diran (7,266 m), and the jagged blade of Lady Finger (6,000 m), it feels as if the mountains themselves are awakening.

After breakfast, we begin our drive north toward Passu, one of Hunza’s most iconic mountain villages. Along the way, we stop at the Haldikish Sacred Rocks, etched with thousands of ancient petroglyphs—silent testaments from pilgrims and travelers who once journeyed along the Silk Route. These carvings are among the oldest surviving records of Buddhist presence in the region.

In Passu, we check in and refresh before setting out to explore its spectacular surroundings. The turquoise waters of Attabad Lake, formed by a landslide in 2010, shimmer beneath towering cliffs. A short walk leads us to Borith Lake, a serene alpine bowl hidden among sweeping meadows.

We then marvel at the Passu Glacier, its crevasses and ice flows pouring down from the Passu Sar massif, and for the adventurous, a walk on the Hussaini Suspension Bridge—a thrilling passage strung over the Hunza River that feels like stepping into legend.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Visit to Haldikish Sacred Rocks, bearing centuries-old Buddhist petroglyphs
  • Explore Attabad Lake, Borith Lake, Passu Glacier, and the daring Hussaini Suspension Bridge

Travel Details: Driving distance: ~45 km /Time: ~2 hours (excluding stops); Overnight stay at a hotel in Duiker (B/-/-)

Day 8: Where Pakistan Meets China – Khunjerab Pass & Return to Karimabad

Today, we journey to the remote edge of Pakistan, where majestic mountains ascend into the clouds and borders fade into silence. Our destination is the legendary Khunjerab Pass (4,733 m)—the highest paved border crossing in the world and the awe-inspiring point where Pakistan meets China.

We set off early along the iconic Karakoram Highway, often called the Eighth Wonder of the World. The road winds through the stark beauty of Upper Hunza, passing through villages such as Moro Khon, Khyber, Khudabad, and the strategically significant town of Sost—each shaped by centuries of trade and tradition.

As we enter Khunjerab National Park, the trees disappear, giving way to expansive plateaus and snow-capped ridgelines. With a bit of luck, we might catch a glimpse of Himalayan ibex, marmots, or even the elusive snow leopard, hidden in the silence of the high peaks.

At last, we arrive at Khunjerab Pass, where a modest gate marks the border, yet the scale is anything but small. Here, the wind sweeps across a landscape of epic proportions, with mountains stretching endlessly into both Pakistan and China.

After taking time to walk, reflect, and appreciate the extraordinary scenery, we return to Karimabad, descending into the valley just as the evening light warms the stone and sky.

Note: Access to Khunjerab Pass is dependent on weather conditions and may be closed due to snowfall or other adverse circumstances.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Stand at the Pakistan–China border at Khunjerab Pass (4,733 m), the world’s highest paved crossing
  • Explore Khunjerab National Park, where you can enjoy breathtaking landscapes and the opportunity to spot diverse wildlife.

Travel Details: Driving distance: ~170 km round trip/Time: ~6–8 hours total (including scenic stops) Overnight stay at a hotel in Passau (B/L/-)

Day 9: Across the Highlands – Drive from Hunza to Naran via Babusar Pass

After breakfast, we bid farewell to the towering peaks and ancient stones of Hunza and begin our journey southward toward Naran. This long yet spectacular drive covers 355 kilometers, following the Karakoram Highway before diverging onto the winding ascent to Babusar Pass (4,173 m).

As we climb back into the highlands, dramatic landscapes unfold once more—rugged cliffs, alpine meadows, and sweeping valleys carved by glaciers and time. At the summit of Babusar Pass, we take a moment to breathe in the crisp air and admire the panoramic views before descending into the lush, forested embrace of the Kaghan Valley.

By late afternoon, we arrive in the charming town of Naran, nestled alongside the rushing Kunhar River. After checking in at the hotel, the evening is free to relax, walk by the riverside, or explore the local bazaar.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Scenic descent from Hunza to Kaghan Valley through shifting mountain terrain and crossing of Babusar Pass (4,173 m) with breathtaking alpine views
  • Arrive in Naran, a peaceful alpine town surrounded by rivers and forested slopes

Travel Details: Driving distance: ~355 km/Time: ~9–10 hours (including scenic stops); Overnight stay at a hotel in Naran (B/L/-)

Day 10: From Mountains to Antiquity – Returning to Islamabad via Taxila

Today, we bid farewell to the mountains and begin our descent from the alpine valleys of Naran to the capital city of Islamabad, covering a distance of 279 km. As the landscapes soften from rugged peaks to fertile plains, the road carries us not only through space, but also through time.

En route, we visit the ancient city of Taxila, one of the most significant archaeological sites in South Asia. Once a flourishing center of Buddhist learning, art, and architecture, Taxila reached its height between 600 BCE and 500 CE, attracting scholars, monks, and travelers from across Asia. The remains of stupas, monasteries, and classical Greco-Buddhist temples speak to a civilization where East and West once met in harmony.

We explore some of the key sites—such as Dharmarajika Stupa, the Jaulian Monastery, and the Taxila Museum, home to some of the most exquisite Gandharan sculptures ever found. This final stop is a quiet, meditative close to a journey that has crossed glaciers, high passes, and ancient kingdoms.

By evening, we arrive in Islamabad and transfer to our hotel for a well-deserved rest.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Scenic drive from Naran to Islamabad, passing through changing elevations and landscapes.
  • Visit to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Archaeological Site of Taxila and explore Dharmarajika, Jaulian, and the exceptional Taxila Museum

Travel Details: Driving distance: ~279 km/ Time: ~7–8 hours (including site visits); Overnight stay at a hotel in Islamabad (B/-/-)

Day 11: Until We Meet Again – Departure from Islamabad

As the mountains fade into memory and the soft light of morning settles over Islamabad, it is time to say farewell. After breakfast, we transfer you to Islamabad International Airport for your onward flight—closing a journey that has taken you from alpine meadows to the edge of China, across sacred valleys, ancient fortresses, and sky-piercing peaks.

This is not just the end of a journey, but the beginning of a story—one crafted in the silence of glaciers, the rhythm of village life, and the golden light of Hunza’s sunsets. As you take off into the sky, the spirit of the north travels with you.

Travel Details: Transfer: Hotel to Islamabad International Airport Driving time: ~45 minutes (depending on traffic) End of tour; (B/-/-)
